For years, I have been fighting to fix New York City’s broken property tax system. I’m a veteran, a retired technology professional, and a homeowner in Southeast Queens who joined the Tax Equity Now New York (TENNY) lawsuit because I believed this city could finally deliver fairness. We filed a lawsuit against the city and state nearly nine years ago, to fix the unfairness and illegal system.

Feds’ proposal will hurt social workers

The U.S. Department of Education has proposed a rule that will dramatically reshape who can afford to become a social worker in this country. By excluding the Master of Social Work and Doctor of Social Work from its definition of “professional degree” programs, the department would cap federal borrowing for future social workers far below what students in fields such as law, medicine, and pharmacy can access.
